How to stand out at CHANEL
It was crazy this morning at Chanel. The Grand Palais was over crowded by thousands people : photographers, young blogers, teenagers, fans, curious tourists wanting to know what’s happening… So many people, so few space to take a good enough picture. I had to climb a promontory to be able to see who was coming and also share with you this insanity.
Because of her stature, her elegance and her mermaid look ( remember the movie “Splash” with Daryl Hannah ?) Elina Halimi always attracts photographers. If only you could see them runing after her, every time she arrives, it’s impressive.
But you know my policy : never do what other photographers already do, move away from them, always looking to be different, creative, even if it means that I will not be able to take a single picture. It doesn’t scare me a bit to “miss” a picture because my vision of street style photography during fashion week is not based on style but on “moments”, “stories”, “Emotions”. During fashion weeks, we are very lucky as photographers to be surrounded by great people that fashion editors, stylists, designers, models are. Meeting them several times during the years helped me to know them better. I’ve never been disappointed.
I noticed Elina for the first time in february in New York. I didn’t know at all who she was. So, as usual, I watched the person interact with people and photographers. Always cool and available, she also walks like a queen. So I had to find a way to show that “Queen” feeling in my pictures by defining what would be the best angles, the best moments. You’ll see these pictures soon on the blog.
As I can’t be on her path as she arrives at Chanel, because of the crowd, I notice how she stands out with her cream outfit and mermaid hair. I know what to do : quickly jump on the promontory to take a picture that illustrates that. “Elina !”. Elina turns her head, looking for who is calling her. “I’m here ! Look up !”. Elina raises her head, watches me : MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Thank you @kabukiparis for your coolness. See you soon - Kamel - (à How to stand out at CHANEL)
